This is a great pub and my local. Always a great range of real ales. 7 tv screens and 2 big screens so all the sport is shown. Basically it's a "village pub in the City"less

We always come here when visiting my son at Norwich University. The location is ideal and a short taxi ride back to the local Travelodge. Really good pub with loads of tvs to watch the football or rugby. Friendly service from bar staff. One thing which could make it even better, is the offer of bar food such as chip butty or something as easy. Great pub!less

We are staying in Unthank Road and wanted to find a pub that showed sport as it was England v Australia in the Ashes. The pub is incredibly welcoming and home from home. A brilliant range of ales too. Friendly staff and friendly customers. Anyway we were in there for a good 3 hours and witnessed Ben Stokes amazing innings as against the odd England saved The Ashes. A wonderful atmosphere in the pub and an afternoon we will always remember. A great place to have good beer, watch sport and meet lovely people. less

Before today's visit was willing to give another chance. Always been a spit and sawdust place and smells - that kind of vagabond/old person smell - but at least they showed the football and a decent atmosphere (FYI - my partner had previously come to the pub with me but she declined to ever go there again) Anyway turned up today to watch the football on the sky red button (Norwich playing Brentford). Staff at first claimed it wasn't on (wrong), then changed tack to stay their system didn't have it or they couldn't get it to work (also wrong). Finally, when we asked to speak to the manager we were told he wouldn't speak to us and they had orders not to change the channels - how many time was that story going to change. Not sure why the manager of a smelly back street boozer wouldn't want good customers in his dishevelled hovel. Anyway - went to Murderers, where unsurprisingly the red button did work and have a lovely afternoon Pity the Cottage has to have a manager/owner with so little idea and for it to go bust before it can be improved Shame on the Cottage !less
